Stewart Parvin unveils 2016 wedding dresses

Stewart Parvin, better known as the royal wedding designer who created Zara Phillips’ gown, is celebrating his 20th anniversary in the bridal world – and has just released his 2016 collection.

During an exclusive press preview held at his London store, model after model walked down the runway showcasing the range of gowns on offer. And much like his previous collections, Stewart has unveiled a host of sophisticated and understated dresses.

Low backs, flattering A-line silhouettes and new fabrics and lace – a departure from the traditional bridal Alencón lace – were spotted in the collection.

Fluidity was another main feature, and helped create a relaxed look to the dresses.

While he may have used new types of material and lace in his collection, his signature balletic features were still there, such as the dainty spaghetti straps, the soft bows and the leotard-inspired tops.

Big ball gowns were also on show, while a short knee-length lace number and a trench coat-inspired dress also made it into this year’s collection.

Speaking previously to HELLO! Online, Stewart – who was granted a Royal Warrant in 2007 – said that he created gowns with different brides in mind.

“I see a lot of girls on trunk shows so I see a lot of different shapes,” he said. “I’m always aware of making the collection with shapes that will fit some girls and styles that will fit others. So you’ve almost got something for everybody.”

The Queen’s favourite couturier also gave brides-to-be a piece of advice. “There are so many people who are forever searching for a dress and they have an ideal of what they’re wanting, but sometimes they’re searching for an impossible dream,” said Stewart.

“You just have to find a dress you love. Some people won’t burst into tears when they try a dress on, some people will, but you really don’t have to try on a thousand dresses. Just try on a few beautiful ones.”
